13-year-old says Apophis has 1 in 450 chance of hitting Earth in 2036
NASA predicted that the Apophis asteroid has about a 1 in 45,000 chance of hitting the Earth in 2029 when it will to pass by the Earth at a distance of around 32,500 kilometers. Apophis first became an object of attention in December 2004 when the asteroid was deemed to have a 2.7% chance of striking the Earth.
The fear is that the asteroid could pass through a gravitational keyhole leading to an impact with the Earth in 2036 when the asteroid makes another orbit near earth. According to NASA, if the asteroid struck the earth it would create a 1,049 foot wide ball of iron and iridium weighing 200 billion tons that would crash into the Atlantic Ocean.

BitTorrent Tracker Shoots Back at IFPI Volleys
Swedish BitTorrent tracker The Pirate Bay is demanding compensation from the IFPI for a court decision that found the site blocked from customers of the Denmark’s Tele2 ISP.

Critics feared the ruling would soon spread to a number of other countries, and IFPI executives in nearby Norway and Finland announced they were looking into similar court action.

“The new code, specifically sections 12.9 and 12.11, places the onus on customers to take reasonable care and make sure that their antivirus and anti-spyware software are up to date,” said Yuval Ben-Itzhak, chief technology officer at Finjan.

A nanotechnology breakthrough at the University of Glasgow could pave the way for MP3 players with a storage capacity 150,000 times greater than today’s top-of-the-range devices.
Researchers claim to have developed a molecule-sized switch which dramatically boosts storage capacity without the need to increase the physical size of players.
The technology could see 500,000GB crammed into a square inch microchip, allowing users to store hundreds of millions of video clips and music tracks on a single device, well in excess of the 40,000 songs on today’s largest capacity players.
